  Community Groups

  What Is Community Group?

At Dayspring, it is our desire that people have a place to belong and grow in a healthy relationship with God and others. We believe the best place to experience this sustained life change is in Community Groups as people study God’s Word together and discuss the issues and challenges of life. It is where we pray and car for one another. Community Group is the place that friends become family.

Community Groups are made up of five to six married couples or six to eight individuals of the same gender that meet in a home on a weekly basis for Bible study, prayer, and fellowship. Each group meets on the best night of the week for the group. Community Groups are for anyone at any point in their spiritual journey. The best way to become a part of a Community Group is to attend the next Group Link.

Group Link is a two hour event that occurs four times a year where people connect with a Community Group. To find out the next Group Link date and to register for the next Group Link, click here.

Why should I join a Small Group?

We believe that you can only move so far on your spiritually journey without others. Being in a group will help you develop lasting friendships that will push you further faster on your spiritual journey. Also, groups are a great place to make friends and realize you are not alone in whatever you are going through. Groups celebrate successes and help each other through the tough times.

Do I have to be a member of Dayspring to join a Small Group?

No way. Groups are for everyone and anyone.

What happens at a Small Group meeting?

You show up and have some brief time of fellowship. After that you move to a Bible study time for about 60 minutes. Here you discuss the Word of God and how it applies to your life. Notice we said discuss. Our leaders facilitate conversation. They do not preach! It isn’t a bunch of theological jargon that only a few can understand. It is for everyone at every point in their journey. Then the groups move into a time of prayer. Then you have a snack time and go home.

What do groups study?

Each group picks their own curriculum to study from the pre-approved list: click to search. Groups that form at Group Link use an introduction study guide.

Where do small groups meet?

They meet all over our area in host homes. You can usually find a group within 10-15 minutes of your house.

Is there childcare available?

Dayspring believes in Community Groups so strongly that we offer Childcare Reimbursements for those needing childcare during their small group time. This means that you pay your baby sitter to come to your home and Dayspring will reimburse you at the rate on our Childcare Reimbursement Form.

How long does Community Group last?

Community Groups initially meet for 8 weeks as an Intro Group to make sure the group gels. After those first 8 weeks, the group members decide if they want to continue meeting together for an additional 10-22 months. Therefore, the total duration of a typical Community Group is between one and two years.

What if I don’t like the first group I try?

Try another one! New groups meet for eight weeks as an Intro Group to make sure the group gels. If after the eight weeks, you are not comfortable with your group, we will help you find another one that is right for you, no questions asked. If you would like to try a different group after the initial 8-weeks, please email Michael Duncan at mduncan@dayspringbc.org.
